User Guide

📱 1. Title Screen

You can set the "Number of cards in territory" and "Number of empty cards". "Number of cards in territory" is the number of cards placed in your territory. "Number of empty cards" is the number of empty cards read during the game. If set to 0, no empty cards will be read. If set to the same number as the cards in your territory, the probability of reading a card in your territory and an empty card will be the same (50% each). Pressing the "Next" button moves to the next "Arrangement Time".

🖐️ 2. Arrangement Time

Drag and drop the cards you want to arrange to place them where you like. There is no limit on memorization time. When you are ready, press the "Next" button to start reading.

🗣️ 3. Reading

A poem will be read. Sometimes a card in your territory is read, and sometimes an empty card is read. If a card in your territory is read, swipe the read card to take it.

If you finish taking the card or if an empty card is read, you can press the "Next" button to proceed to the next card without listening to the end of the poem. If you cannot take the card until the reading is finished, or if you stop reading without taking the card, that card is treated as a "very slow card".

After reading is finished, if there are still cards in your territory, you will return to "Arrangement Time" again. If all cards in your territory are gone, the results of this practice will be displayed.

📊 4. Result Display

In addition to the total score and the rank of speed for taking cards (displayed in 9 colored triangles), the results of each poem are displayed. The list can be scrolled by dragging up and down.

The total score is calculated based on "the time from when the Kimari-ji is read until it is taken" throughout the game.

The speed rank is color-coded in the order of fastest: "Deep Purple, Light Purple, Deep Scarlet, Light Scarlet, Deep Green, Light Green, Deep Hanada, Light Hanada, Yellow". These colors are based on the colors of official ranks in the Ritsuryo system of the Heian period.

The results of each poem are arranged in the order they were read. The position of the triangle indicates at which character the card was taken. The color of the triangle represents the speed rank. The underline and step of the poem indicate the Kimari-ji. The underline indicates a general Kimari-ji, and the step indicates the determination after "Kimari-ji change".

👑 About Speed Rank Colors

These colors are based on the colors of official ranks in the Ritsuryo system of the Heian period.
Deep Purple (Fastest) → Light Purple → Deep Scarlet → Light Scarlet → Deep Green → Light Green → Deep Hanada → Light Hanada → Yellow (Slow)

FAQ

Why can you take a card right after reading starts?

Competitive players memorize all the poems and know exactly how many characters they need to hear to identify the poem. Search for "Kimari-ji" (determining characters) for more details.

Is a fault (Otetsuki) not judged?

In this app, we do not judge faults. If we strictly judge faults on a narrow smartphone screen, false judgments may increase and cause stress. Therefore, if you cheat, you can get a high score, but please use it according to your conscience as a practice tool.

Are the results saved?

Currently, there is no function to save results. Please take a screenshot to record if necessary.

Why synthesized voice instead of human voice?

With a human voice, even if the same person reads, there may be subtle differences for each poem. Synthesized voice is used to keep conditions constant during repeated practice. Also, since the reading speed is constant, there is an advantage that "up to what character was read" can be calculated accurately.
